Tri-City Saves Customer 2446.80 vs. Competitor Quote by Tri-City Transmission

Case Study:
2002 Isuzu Rodeo, 4L30E Transmission, 125,063 miles. Transmission slipping or chattering cold.

Customer Concern:
Vehicle does not want to take off immediately when it finally grabs it is very harsh with a big jolt.

Total Customer Saving:
By bringing their car to Tri-City Transmission, this customer saved $2446.80 from the lowest competitor quote. At Tri-City Transmission, we will not sell you anything you do not need nor charge you for anything you do not receive.

Tri-City Transmission Comments:

This is a repair that we consistently perform 2 – 3 times a month. The customer always comes in thinking the repair is going to be very expensive because the vehicle appears to work so horribly. No one ever sees the transmission fluid leak evidence in the driveway because it only leaks when the vehicle is in 4th gear traveling at speeds of 40+ mph. Uniquely the transmission does not have a dipstick, so no one ever bothers to properly check the fluid level. We have seen many big name transmission shops, dealerships, and general repair shops gladly replace this transmission because they don’t know better, don’t take the time to thoroughly diagnose the transmission,  are not educated or worse yet, they are simply dishonest.

Shop A Diagnosis: Shop A Diagnosis: Tri-City Diagnosis:
Something has failed in the transmission and the transmission will need to come out of the vehicle to find out what is wrong. “Major Repair”. Transmission is failing and needs overhaul. 4th Gear accumulator cover is leaking, transmission manual lever seal just starting to seep, transmission 1.5 quarts low on fluid on arrival. Transmission fluid filled to appropriate level for diagnostic purposes and now the transmission works fine.

Tri-City Recommendation and Final Resolution: Replace 4th gear accumulator cover, replace manual lever seal and service transmission. One day Turn around time.

Price Estimate: No exact price quoted. Price Estimate: $2,900 or more. Final Cost: $453.20 .

There is specifically technical service bulletins from the manufacturer referring to this problem. Other vehicles that it effects with the same transmission are: Isuzu Rodeo, Isuzu Trooper, Honda Passports, Cadillac Catera and some Models of BMW. Transmission model # 4L30E manufactured by Hydromatic, a division of General Motors.

Customer Comment:

"I just wanted to extend my gratitude to Tri-City Transmission. I brought my car in a few days ago after having visited a couple of your competitors. Everyone at Tri-City was honest, courteous and friendly. My problem was resolved in one day and at slightly less cost than the original estimate. It's a relief to have a transmission shop that I can trust, and I'm telling everyone who'll listen to take their transmission issues to you. I'm also putting the word in the street regarding my experience with your competitors" – Clay
